The Book That Changed My Life

I love reading. I especially love that I’m not alone when it comes to that favourite pastime. I’m probably one of a gazillion or so Sherrilyn Kenyon fans and it was one of her books that changed my life.

I’ll never forget walking through the crowded halls of San Diego Comic Con in 2008 and the kind young lady who held a book out in my path saying, “Would you like a book? It’s free.” I took it and dropped it into my swag bag then hurried off to get in line for another panel. Several months later, I pulled that book out and read “Seize the Night”. It was my first romance novel. I was in love and have since read all of Sherrilyn’s works.

I’d always had fantasies in my mind and while they were very sexy and romantic, they were also dark and twisted. When I read “Seize the Night”, I remember a feeling coming over me that I wasn’t alone in imagining those types of heartbreaking scenes. It inspired me to write some of my own stories down which felt amazing. I was able to do it without feeling ashamed of the darker aspect.

Sherrilyn later came to my town for a book signing which I wasn’t missing for anything. That signing was sponsored by what would become my local writing chapter, Washington DC Romance Writers. I joined so that I could meet her. She rocks, by the way. Now I’m a Romance Author, and the rest is history.

sinshaven1mNow for those questions…

Q1. What inspired you to write Sin’s Haven your latest story?

Sin’s Haven is the third book in my Sin Pointe Novel series so in a way, it was inspired by its predecessors. I got so much awesome feedback about a supporting character, Ben, (who is the webmaster for the band the books are about) that I knew he needed his own story. And then one night, an image of a young woman singing him a song in a club popped into my head. But things were wrong. There were no smiles he’s known for and Ben was hurting. I loved him so much that I had to get him from there to his own Happily Ever After.

Q2. What is the most life-changing thing to happen to Ben?

Ben has always been happy to serve as the support for others and stay in the background. The night he goes out to celebrate his birthday and is put in the spotlight, an ensuing catastrophe makes him regret coming out of his safe zone. Except for the angel who comes to his rescue and yes, changes his life forever. She has a way of making him feel like the rock stars he works for.

Q3.What one thing do you hope readers will take away from this story?

What I want is for readers to come away from reading Sin’s Haven with a special place in their hearts for Ben. I hope he inspires people to be themselves and shun stereotypes and assumptions.

Thank you so much, Morgan!

Sin’s Haven Blurb:

When Sin Pointe webmaster, Benjamin Wright, is publicly humiliated on his birthday, he knows he’s never gonna be able to show his face around the guys again. But an angelic hostess who lets him sleep it off at the club seems surprisingly eager to help him out. Is his luck changing or does she just feel sorry for him?

Hazel Temple, bagel mistress by day and club hostess by night, feels horrible for inadvertently playing a part in Ben’s embarrassment and vows to make it up to him—by telling him they had a sizzling hot one night stand. Still recovering from losing her fiancé to suicide, she worries about Ben when he discovers her lie. Is she bound to hurt the men she cares about?

A Sin Pointe camping trip provides Hazel her chance to get Ben’s groove back.

Will her webmaster be the one to rock her world?
